We all want to live a full and flourishing life, don’t we? We want our lives to matter and to make a difference in this world. For many, life may seem a bit disconnected, common or ordinary. The daily routines of life can become rather discouraging if we let them, can’t they?
Do you know this is NOT the way that God intended us to live? The Bible tells us in John 10:10 that Jesus came to give us life in abundance and to the fullest. There is nothing ordinary about this kind of life! In fact, a life connected to God is meant to be full, fruitful, plentiful, exciting and EXTRA-ORDINARY! How does that sound?!
God is our source for everything we need in life and His resources NEVER run out! The key to living the abundant life is staying connected to our source. We do this by coming to God with an open and pliable heart in humility, prayer and thankfulness.
In John 15:4, Jesus likens himself to a vine, and we are the branches. Just as a branch cannot grow apart from the vine, we cannot live abundantly apart from God. He wants us to look to and depend upon Him for EVERYTHING we need or desire in life. We must stay connected to Him, our source!
We never want to LIMIT God and all that He has for our lives. Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly ABOVE all we can ask, think or imagine, according to the power that works in us. God Himself, is that power source, and His power is LIMITLESS!
God is GOOD, and He has a full and wonderful plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11). He wants you to live life to the fullest in and with HIM. God’s plan for your life includes: joy, peace, healing, prosperity and fulfillment (3 John 2 and Galatians 5:22). Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? How is this possible? The Bible tells us in James 4:8 to draw near to God and He will draw near to us. Let’s STAY CONNECTED to our life-giving source!
This week, as we connect with God in our quiet time, let’s consider the following:
- How would you describe your life, at this moment, in a few words?
- Are you looking to God as your source for everything you need in life? Read Philippians 4:19. How does that verse encourage you?
- Who or what are you looking at to supply all your needs? How is that working out for you?
- Read John 15:1-8. What are the benefits of staying connected to the vine listed in these verses?
- Have you been limiting God in your life? How and why? What adjustment is God prompting you to make?
Remember, God loves you, values you and cares deeply about your every concern! Pour your heart out to Him in prayer. Thank Him for the blessings that are all around you. Live a life of gratitude. Draw near to God and stay connected to His loving presence! ENJOY your life in abundance and to the fullest!
